Leon Beyer Gewurztraminer ‘Comtes Des Eguisheim’ Bronze Medal 2015

November 17, 2011
Leon Beyer Gewurztraminer

Award winning gem from the real Alsace. Pure aromas of yellow plum, rose petal, lichee and curry powder; real essence of gewurztraminer here. Very rich and ripe, with terrific depth of fruit and layered texture. The wine’s sweetness comes from sheer ripeness and substantial alcohol, as there’s less than five grams per litre of residual sugar. Lovely harmonious acidity…

Leon Beyer Gewurztraminer : Wine Man Pick : Silver Medal 2015

Leon Beyer Gewurstraminer White

A ‘masterclass’ wine. These are among my personally ‘truly most appreciated’ wines in the world. Spicy off-dry, Alsatian Gewurztraminer does it all for me. Beyer’s, doubly so. Full-bodied, dry and well-structured; probably the best-known Alsace wine. Its intense bouquet displays rich aromas of fruit, flowers and spices. Powerful and seductive, it can often age well (unlikely to be laid down for too many years though, in SH!).

Almost ALL GONE. If you ever get the chance, do leap into an Alsace wine. They are like nothing else on the planet. Elegant, with a hint of spice. Well-rounded, yet delicate. Combines freshness and softness, representing the happy medium in the range of Alsace wines. A well balanced wine. Beyers wines tend to be drier than many in Alsace.
