Free ‘Thank You’ Party April 7th 2012:

Dear friends, wine lovers, comedians & customers (new and returning),

Due to the Tomb-Sweeping Holiday affecting so many who had to work last Saturday, the party date is now Saturday April 7th.

What & When? On the afternoon of Saturday 7th April (from 2 until 5pm) will host a ‘thank you‘ wine afternoon at Pinocchio Restaurant on Gao Jing Lu, in Xu Jing to celebrate the belated beginning of Spring (and the seasonal benefits, that that brings, here in Shanghai). If the weather is still nice, we’ll be outside.

Who? You! Our Newsletter subscribers, site members, regular customers and some new customers are being invited to apply for the event. Unfortunately, we can only accommodate around 40 guests.

How? Invitees should RSVP to register by April 6th (with the names of up to 3 other guests in your group) . Use email, the website contact form, sms, smoke signals…whatever! Once we hit 45, that’s it. No more space.

Cost? Nothing. This is a free event. But, if you can, please bring a plate of your favourite simple (deli) delicacy to share; salamis, cheeses, crackers.

There will be some Deli nibbles and appetizers. Please bring a plate of your favourite home made dish or any speciality (deli) delicacy to share.

Come and enjoy the feeling of goodwill around the sap rising, the spring bud break, the joining of Jupiter & Venus with the crescent moon in the early evening western sky (look west soon after sunset) and mostly; the end of the cold miserable rainy season.

Adendum: The restaurant will be reclaiming the large upstairs room from us at 5pm. They are graciously donating the room, some drinks and nibbles for no charge!

Anyone wanting to stay at the restaurant to book a table for meal will get a treat from me in the form of any leftover wines I won’t want to carry away with me, to enjoy with their meal! I recommend the Steak in red wine and pepper sauce (RMB130), cooked to a ‘medium‘ (actually comes rare in my book) or ‘medium-rare’ if you like it ‘blue’ I do. I had it last Sunday night, with my family and friends.

Pinocchio also happens to be one our venues for the Journey through Wine Evenings, which began in March and run on the 2nd Wednesdays of each month until June.

Next Month: A Journey through Spanish Wine. And boy, do I have some treats lines up! Only RMB280 for 7 great wines and deli nibbles. Nobody in Shanghai does this level of quality and this number of fine wines anywhere near such a low price.
